Recently, the 2026 Annual Academic Conference of the Folk Characteristic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Branch of the Zhejiang Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine was successfully held in Hangzhou from May 15 to 17. This academic gathering brought together experts, scholars, clinical physicians, and industry peers from across the province’s TCM sector. Focusing on cutting-edge topics such as the inheritance and innovation of folk characteristic diagnosis and treatment techniques, as well as the clinical application of TCM practices, the conference established a high-level academic exchange platform to promote the standardized and scientific development of distinctive folk TCM technologies.

      Dr. Xia Bang'en, President of our hospital and Vice Chairman of the Folk Characteristic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Branch of the Zhejiang Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine, attended the conference and served as the moderator for this annual meeting. He was also invited to deliver a keynote presentation titled "Clinical Application of the TCM Method of Resolving Phlegm and Softening Hardness in Malignant Lymphoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma."

      During his presentation, drawing upon his extensive frontline clinical practice in TCM and incorporating numerous real-world cases of tumor regression and recovery, Dr. Xia elucidated in an accessible yet profound manner the theoretical connotations, syndrome differentiation approaches, and medication logic underlying the TCM method of resolving phlegm and softening hardness. He elaborated on the clinical treatment experiences, efficacy observations, and practical insights regarding this innovative TCM therapy in managing malignancies such as malignant lymphoma and squamous cell carcinoma. His talk systematically demonstrated the unique advantages of TCM-dominant cancer treatment and the clinical value of folk characteristic diagnostic and therapeutic techniques.

      The compelling and detailed case analyses, coupled with solid and rigorous clinical experience, sparked widespread attention and enthusiastic discussions among renowned experts and attending peers. The presentation provided valuable, replicable practical insights for clinical oncology diagnosis and treatment using TCM, as well as for the inheritance and application of folk characteristic techniques.

      Participation in this conference and the ensuing academic exchanges not only signify recognition of our hospital’s clinical research efforts in TCM but also serve as a bridge for further cultivating distinctive folk TCM technologies and expanding TCM-based oncology treatment pathways.
